7/2 - Fifteen Bikes Plus! Thank you!!!

With heartfelt gratitude, I reflect on this year's Pedal to Empower fundraiser. Thanks to my incredible supporters (35 strong!), I raised enough for more than 15 Buffalo Bicycles (a new record!) - and that doesn't even include all the double and triple matches that were added along the way! I'd also like to thank my inspiring teammate Scott, who believes in the Power of Bicycles because he has seen it firsthand.

6/29 - Pedaling to Empower

Pedaling in the heat today, thankful to all of you who have donated, hoping to finish strong. Remembering why we are doing this - to give hope in the form of reliable transportation to women and girls that really need it. I have friends that have seen how Buffalo Bikes are making a real difference in Africa, one person, one family, one community at a time. Triple match goes through tomorrow!

6/24 - Triple Match is ON!

GREAT NEWS! All gifts to my fundraiser will be not just doubled, but TRIPLED! Providing one Buffalo Bike costs $165. Together we can help women and girls in developing countries access school, work, water, healthcare and more!

6/22 - New Riding Goal of 265 km

Maybelline is congratulating me for completing my riding goal of 200 km! Saturday evening I fixed my flat tire (a thorn!) and then rode my longest ride of the fundraiser to take me over the 200 km.
Today I decided to INCREASE my goal to 265 km by then end of June - - Got to keep pushing! More people need our help! Let's do this!

6/13 - Biking on the FMGRV Trail (Ionia Michigan)

On June 13, my husband and I biked from our campsite at Ionia State Recreation area to the Fred Meijer Grand River Valley (FMGRV) trail, and then east to Ionia, Michigan. A lovely trail with lots of trees for shade. Here we are on the trail bridge over the Grand River. See my gallery below for more pics from this ride!

6/7 - Biking in New Orleans

On Sunday, June 7, I biked in New Orleans along the Mississippi River with my daughter. We stopped at Café du Monde on Jackson Square for chicory coffee and hot beignets. Magnifique!  Check out my gallery below for more pictures from New Orleans. Click on a picture to see the captions.

6/5 update: Ten Bikes! Onward and Upward!

Thank you SO MUCH to all my supporters! Powered by your generosity, today I reached my initial goal of $1650 - enough for TEN bicycles! I took this picture on the trail today to celebrate with you!
You have inspired me to KEEP GOING through the end of June! My goal is now $2310 - enough for FOUR MORE BICYCLES! Keep checking this page to follow my journey through Louisiana, Michigan, and Indiana!

June 3 World Bicycle Day Ride!

Thanks to everyone who joined me for a World Bicycle Day ride this morning! Look at this great group! Next year I plan to add an evening ride, by popular request!

MATCHING GRANT IS ON! 6/1 thru 6/5!

A dollar-for-dollar matching grant is LIVE this week (June 1st through 5th)! Now is a great time to donate because anything you give will be DOUBLED! Thank you so much!

Coming Home

My bulldog Maybelline greets me when I get home from the Y!

To Indiana and Back Again

A lovely Memorial Day morning to ride the IN-MI RVT in support of empowering women and girls with the same freedom! Stopped at the Innovatus Solar bench (props to Michael P.!) See image in Gallery below! 20 km ride

And we're off!

Here we go! My third year riding for World Bicycle Relief! What's new this year is I have started a  TEAM! Please join me on team "Tell Me Y" ! And hold the date of June 3 for our World Bicycle Day event!

Help me Pedal to Empower!

This May and June, I'm excited to be pedaling to empower women and girls! I'm joining supporters everywhere to raise funds and awareness for World Bicycle Relief, a global nonprofit committed to helping individuals overcome the barrier of distance by mobilizing rural communities around the world with bicycles.

If you want to join my team, click the "Tell me Y" team button above, then click "Join Us" to be a part of the fun. If you want to support with a donation, you will be helping get more women and girls on bikes to achieve independence and thrive.

This year, with more than 1 million Buffalo Bicycles on the road, there’s no better time to join the movement that’s mobilizing the next generation of women and girls. Because 1 million is just the beginning.
