Dear Friends of Bikes for Girls:
The last few years have not been kind to schoolgirls in rural Africa. The impact of missing school as a results of COVID 19 is still being felt. Added to that, there is now a dramatic reduction in Aid from wealthy countries which will hurt both education and health. Large increases in the cost of food and worsening economic conditions will mean that many girls will never be able to return to school.
For those who can return to school, having you give them a bike can be life-changing.
The girl who receives your gift of a bike:
- Lives in a small rural village, many kilometres from her school
- Having a bike, she will get to school faster, more regularly, and with more energy to study
- Will be more likely to graduate from high school and fulfill her dreams
- Will be better able avoid sexual harassment on the way to and from school
- Will get her pre-school chores, like ferrying water and finding firewood, done faster
