Bicycle Change Lives. In A THOUSAND Different Ways...

...For instance:

• Access to work, access to education, access to markets, access to healthcare.

• Safety in traveling, especially for women, especially young women, especially in dangerous parts of the world. Also affording many more equal opportunities for women's schooling and employment.

• The ability to carry much larger loads across much greater distances in much shorter times. Water from the well, crops from the fields, books from the school.

• Improved social standing and respect, improved self-sufficiency and self-confidence, improved health and well-being.

You've heard, "Give someone a fish, feed them for a day. Teach someone to fish, feed them for a lifetime." But when you give a bicycle to someone in a developing country, with limited access to food, water, education, employment, safe & efficient means of travel, medical attention, or gender equality, then you've not only helped feed them, you've helped educate them, employ them, heal them, safeguard them, empower them.

I believe, as does World Bicycle Relief, in the power of bicycles and their ability to change lives. Literally. I'm not exaggerating - a bike can change lives. It's an amazing program: specially built, rugged & durable bicycles issued to schools for their students, to farmers for their markets, to medical facilities for their staff.

$165 for one bicycle in the field forever changes the trajectory of not just one individual's life but the lives of every single person in their community. Because, especially in developing countries, people survive and thrive together.

This September, I'm undertaking "Shore to Seaway 2023" — a 600-mile, solo ride from Acadia National Park (on the coast of Maine) to Quebec City (on the St. Lawrence Seaway). But while I may be alone on my bike, I'll ride with the wind of every supporter at my back. I'd like to invite you to join me, an angel on my shoulder. Through your contribution (no matter how big or how small) to World Bicycle Relief, we can both change lives.

Thank you for your support.
